The Carlsbad Half marathon is one of the fastest half marathons in the entire USA.
The start and finish are at the same place as the full marathon, the difference is that this half marathon is more of an "out and back" loop. Beginning at the Westfield Shopping center, participants will take off for the coast by way of the lagoon, go as far as the breakwater jetty and return along the same route.
The weather was just beautiful for this annual event, as usual for San Diego. Why not come out and witness some of the fastest times in US marathons next event?
Carlsbad also recognizes those heroes of the marathons, the participant who may not have finished "in the money" but has finished all the same despite life's challenges.
This year in the spirit of helping others and recycling a retired shoe drive was successfully held.
Hundreds of new and nearly new shoes were collected to donate to local organizations who in turn help others along the path.
