Army Navy Carlsbad Beach
One of the north county beaches in San Diego, Army Navy Carlsbad Beach, is a popular destination for people seeking a less crowded beach.
Named after the Army Navy Academy that resides on this stretch of beach, this private school is small is size, yet big on achievements.
How to Get Here
The beach from Laguna Street, south marks the most northern shores of Carlsbad Beaches.
Ranging from Laguna Street to Grand Ave, this Carlsbad Beach is mostly visited by the local residents who are fortunate enough to live along this golden coastline.
At the Army Navy Carlsbad beach, you will find plenty of wide, sandy beaches just perfect for castle building, and the waves here are fairly consistent for surfing and other water sports.
To access this area of Carlsbad Beaches, park on Ocean Street or in the nearby free parking lot off of Garfield Street, and take any of the stairways (these are between the housing units) down to the beach.
There are several access stairways along Ocean Street, you can spot them by the gates between the housing.
Pack a picnic and spread out your beach blanket. Note that there are not any public restrooms here, but restrooms and an outdoor shower are just a quick walk down the shoreline towards Carlsbad Village Drive.
Just past the long ramp you will find well maintained facilities as well as outside showers where you can rinse off the sand.
The best shore fishing and some of the better surf is located at this point. The locals call this area Army Navys, named aptly so after the private school that is fort unite enough to share this fabulous stretch of coastline.
